Hello Again!

Sorry have not updated this blog for so long, but am going to try to keep you up to date from now on. I am back in Marco Polo again tonight after a few days off.

Today its Easter Sunday and we have been out for Sunday Lunch to Matthews Bar in Playa de Las Americas. We had a lovely roast all freshly cooked and very good value.

Luke has been entering a few singing competitions lately and has done very well. He won 300 euros in one competition and got first prize. He is also in the finals of a competition between the Canary Islands. This is in July. He has been on Spanish Tv for the last few weeks every Saturday night. Looks like I he will be taking over from me very soon!!!

We will not be in the UK this summer and will probably be spending our time here in Tenerife.

Sorry, but have not been updating my blog since before Christmas. Unfortunately, we have had a couple of health problems in our family and we have been under a lot of stress.
However, I am now back at the Marco Polo as normal. It has been very busy with lots of regulars in. I will be adding some videos, photos and more info in the next couple of days.

Spent the day in Santa Cruz yesterday.As you can see the weather was great.It's hard to believe I was rained off in the bar the night before.
There was a cruz ship in the port.(wish I was on it)

This our only Marks and Spencer's.It's very small,but they have all the nice Christmas things.

The Marco Polo will be closed for essential maintenance from Monday 13th December for a week. We will be opening again ready for the busy Christmas and New Year period. I will probably have a few days rest during this period, but if I decide to do any odd nights elsewhere I will post it here. Many bar owners have been asking if I would like to work as they have seen how busy it has been in the Marco Polo!!

We have had a few bad days of weather here lately in Tenerife and I have taken a couple of extra nights off because of it. However, last night was busy even though we had a downpour of rain towards the end of the evening. I am surprised at how busy it has been as sometimes it can go quiet leading up til Christmas.

We couldn't believe where all the time has gone.

Many were clients that have been coming to see me for many years.
Christmas is coming round fast now, and my Xmas cd is selling like hot cakes.I can't get enough manufactured to cope with the demand.

We have had some bad storms in Tenerife. Sunday and Monday were a complete wash out with winds and rain. Winds up to 190 km per hour in the North of Tenerife. Fortunately yesterday and today much better, although still looking a little dodgy!! I did not work on Sunday and Monday due to the weather. Tuesday night was very busy again with lots of old faces from years gone by and last night was okay too. Still, we can't complain about the weather as in the UK it is much worse. We have heard from some of our clients today that they are unable to get to the airport due to the snow. They are due to fly out tomorrow so hopefully things will get better!

Sunday night was so so busy again.I thought it was going to be a bit quieter after a few going home,but that wasn't the case.
Today was a little bit cloudy, but it's still warm.About 24 degree's.
Luke performed and played the guitar for the first time infront of a crowd. He will soon be taking over as you can see.

My Christmas Cd is now on sale at 10 euros featuring popular Christmas songs. I have had a lot of interest already in the bar. Can also be ordered by post if anyone wants to invite me into their home over the Christmas period!!

We are having a bit of a Halloween do tonight in the bar. Special Halloween cocktails and we will dress up. Photos to follow tomorrow!!

Last night was very busy again with plenty of dancing out on the seafront. We will have to look at getting smaller tables so that we can fit more people in. The chairs are nice and comfortable, but the tables at the moment are a little large for just drinking.

The evenings are still very warm at 26 degrees so we have the roof awning wide open at the moment.

We are expecting a lot of new guests over the next couple of weeks. We are going to plan a big Country and Western night during this period so if you are coming out bring your fancy dress gear!!

We are very busy here in Tenerife at the moment. We have just finished renovating our new apartment and it is now ready for occupation. It looks fantastic and I will put some photos on and a video soon!

We have had lots of familiar faces in lately at the Marco Polo and we have had a really good atmosphere. The evenings are still very warm, sometimes 26 degrees! So its nice to be out in the open air! The day time temperatures have been very warm and sunny. Perfect beach weather!

Luke has now got a You Tube account so he is putting some of his videos on there of himself singing. There is one on there of him singing Heaven by Bryan Adams. You have to search for Luke Towler singing Heaven by Bryan Adams and it comes up. His singing is really fantastic now.

We have just had all the local fiestas in Adeje and he has been singing there in the cultural centre. That is where the video was taken at Voces de Adeje (Voices of Adeje).

Most nights lately have been very busy in the Marco Polo. We have had to move tables back for the dancing and people have been dancing outside on the walkway in front of the sea!! Julie has been helping out sometimes in the evenings waiting on tables so the drinks have become very strong!!! Beware of the sangria look what it has done to this pair!!

It has been very busy this week in the Marco Polo. We have had some great nights and some good laughs along the way. Last night was David from Swansea\s birthday and we had a cake and everyone got a piece to eat the bar!!
At the weekend Nita, Big Bills wife, slipped over during a rendition of Blanket on the Ground from Lin and broke her wrist! They flew back today and she is going to have an operation back in the UK to fix it. They put a plaster on it here so that she could fly. Fortunately she was ok to fly otherwise she may have had to stay on here for a few extra days.
There have been lots of familiar faces in lately and lots of fun and games. Dancing on the walkway like the old times. Also Luke gave a good concert on Sunday night. He had the crowds cheering for more!! His singing is really coming along now.

Last night I was at the Geordie Pride. Everyone asked me to do it again this week as we had such a good time last week. The place was very busy and they had put lots of extra table and chairs out. They were even linedancing!! We were there till about 3am this morning so feeling pretty tired today!! There we lots of familiar faces in last night including Jock and Sheila, Big Bill from Silsden and his gang, Carol and David from Swansea, Maralyn and Steve and many many more. It was a great atmosphere and everyone had a great time.

My Award!!

As you can see from the picture I am holding my Award which I won last night in Adeje in a singing competion that I didn't even know I had entered!! My son Luke was supposed to enter, but then we found he was too young so his teacher joked about me entering. On Monday I had a phone call to go along for a sound check. I went along and was told to come back at 8pm. I sang a song, one of my own original songs called How Many Songs are There Left to Write and I was then told I was in the final, which was last night in the auditorium in Adeje!! I couldn't even stop to watch the rest of the contestants and the show as I had to go to work in the Geordie Pride. Julie and Luke stopped behind to watch and then they turned up with my award trophy in the bar later!!

Have been working nearly every night recently at the Marco Polo. It has been very very busy with lots of familiar faces. They were all dancing on the walkway like old times the other night when we had a lot of line dancers in. They have so much space to dance out there and as the evening goes on there and it is so nice in front of the sea in the open air!! The atmosphere has been fantastic just like old times.

I was also working at the Geordie Pride last Wednesday night when there was a General Strike here in Spain. Again a fantastic night and we were there till 4.30am!! Not used to having such late nights!! Julio came up with his wife to join us as most of the people in there were from the old Acapulco days!!

Tonight I have been playing at Geordie Pride again. It was a good night with a full house. Everyone seems to enjoy it in there and the food is very good too! The drinks are certainly well priced and the food is excellent value for money. The owner hopes to have live music regularly. I will keep you posted. The funny thing is that Julio is just below me in a bar!!

On Saturday night 12th June, I will be in the Marco Polo again. Hope to see some of you there!

Had another good night last night in the Marco Polo. Its been strange working in different places as some people have found me again after many years! One couple we hadnt seen for 18 years and another couple for about 8 years!
I will be appearing again tonight (Monday 7th June) at the Marco Polo on the seafront at Salytien along from Hotel Gran Tinerfe.
I will be in the Geordie Pride again on Thursday night (10th June).

Luke went down a storm last night singing his Robbie Williams and Michael Jackson songs. There were quite a few young girls in who wanted to be photographed with him and get his autograph!

Last night went very well. Quite a few people came down to see me. It was a nice atmosphere. The bar is very nice and it was so nice to be back on the seafront again with the lovely views! It was also a very warm night so it was nice to be outside on a terrace again.

It is a really nice bar which has been recently refurbished. The owner, Miguel, is very nice and is really pleased to have me there. It is a lovely setting on the seafront. The food looks good and the place is clean and tidy. Hopefully will see some of you there!

I was at the Geordie Pride again last night as there were quite a few people asking me to do it again. We had a great night. It was Julie´s birthday so we had a bit of a party. The atmosphere was really good and the place was full! The owner is also a musician and he got up and did a bit too. The food in Geordie Pride is really good. We often have our Sunday dinner there.

Have been busy working in our new apartment. Havent been looking for a job yet, but have been out and about. Went past the Drop Inn on Saturday night and it was the quietest I have ever seen it. Only about four people in! So the cabaret is not really working at the moment in there. We went to the Berlin Bar where it was very busy as they had a party on for the football. Last Saturday I did a private party for the owner of the Berlin bar. It was an 8 course meal for 12 people and I played accoustic guitar and sang around the table. It was a lovely evening and everyone enjoyed it. Its a great idea and very personal for those there.

On Thursday 27th May, I will be singing in the GEORDIE PRIDE in Puerto Colon. We are having a bit of party night so if you read this and you are around pop in!! The Geordie Pride has recently been taken over by new owners and the food is excellent and the drink prices very reasonable. Only 1 euro a pint before 8pm!!

Chaos in Tenerife due to Volcanic Ash!

Well, its absolute chaos here in Tenerife. Many people have been stranded here and still dont know when they will be going back home. We have been busy trying to help people get flights and sort out accommodation etc. Hopefully, things will start happening now and people will be able to get home now.
We have a large group of stranded passengers over the last few nights in the Drop Inn. Its strange how everyone is so friendly when a disaster strikes. Everyone sticks together and trys to help each other.

Line Dancing in the Drop Inn

I would just like to clarify that Line Dancers are very welcome at the Drop Inn. There seems to have been a few rumours going round that they are not welcome and that I do not want them in the bar. This is complete rubbish and I always try to sing and play music for line dancers when they are in the bar. I have been working with line dancing in Tenerife since 1992 so I am hardly going to say goodbye to all my long standing clients! If line dancers come in the bar and want to hear anything special then please ask me. We can also make more room by moving tables if necessary.

Obviously we have to cater for everyone and all nationalities as you cannot run a business in any other way in a holiday resort. I try to play for everyone and make everyone welcome.

So please feel free to Line Dance if that is what you wish to do. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!

These are some photos from our staff meal from the Drop Inn. The owner, Gaspar, took us all to Rodeo Restaurant which is an Argentian style restaurant serving a lovely buffet and the waiters come round constantly with different cuts of meat. We had a lovely lunch. Thanks to Gaspar!

Today we have been up to Puerto De La Cruz to collect two people who are staying in our apartment in Playa de Las Americas for two weeks. We decided, therefore, to make a day of it and went to the Monastery Restaurant. It is a lovely old Monastery that has been converted into a restaurant. There are lots of animals there and some run around the restaurant! It was all nicely decorated for Christmas as you can see from the above photo!! I had roast lamb and we also tried goose! The weather was a little different in the North and it even rained on the way home.

A surprise visitor to Tenerife!

Yesterday we had a surprise visitor! It was Kris (Buffalo) Robins!! Many of you will remember Kris Robins who worked here as a Country Singer. He worked for a long time in the Las Vegas Bar and before that with me as a duo called "ALIAS" in the Acapulco Bar back in 1992!!

He is now married to Joel, who is French, and is living in Paris! He may pop down to the Drop Inn on Sunday night to relive a little bit of ALIAS. If he does, then we will post it on here!

Last night was a very busy night in the Drop Inn. Lots of familiar faces back. For many it was the first time in the Drop Inn and I am pleased to say they all really enjoyed the atmosphere. It is just like the old Acapulco Days.

It is especially good now that the weather has started to cool down at nights. To be outside on a cold windy terrace is no fun!! The weather in the winter can be changeable. In fact, at the moment it has just started to rain outside!! Thank god, I am inside tonight!

The Drop Inn is Open Again!!

Just to let you know that I am now back in The Drop Inn. It was closed for a few days due to problems with noise. Thankfully it has now been sorted out. Unfortunately, here in Tenerife it only takes one person to make a complaint about noise and it can cause lots of problems. I am not a particulary loud artist and this is the first time that I have had this happen. Unfortunately, it was not actually the Drop Inn that was causing the problems, but another venue close by.
Anyway, I am glad to say things are back to normal now. We are looking forward to a busy November with lots of familiar faces due back.

It has been very busy in the bar the last few nights. Last night we had Big Bill from Silsden and his lot, The Fonz, Jock from Scotland and lots more. So its nice to see the regulars have found me! The atmosphere has been great. Every night is different as you never know what might happen!!
